No, we let them cool off when they came out of the oven so we could frost them.

Some time ago, when I worked as a cake decorator in a grocery store I was setting up sheet cakes for the case and had my work table COVERED in the half sheet boxes straight from the freezer with the flavor marked boldly on the side. My workspace faced the customers and a woman came up to ask me when we baked our cakes and how can she tell which ones are freshest????

Really??

I politely told her that we don't bake our cakes. And she repeated her question. I held up a box and said that everything came in frozen. She had an honest look of shock on her face and then she didn't say anything and walked away. I really don't think people KNOW the truth about the grocery store "bakeries".

I am still flabbergasted that the bakery paid all those people to just move boxes around. They went to the freezer and moved the boxes from the pallet to a U-boat. Then the u-boat was rolled to the front of the store (why not just move the da-n pallet with a hand truck thing??) and the same boxes were moved from the u-boat to the shelf(sometimes rotated), then the items needed were pulled from the shelf, opened and the pre-packaged, labeled items were placed on the tables, then the boxes were crushed and returned to the back of the store. Welcome to the modern "bakery". They don't like to keep "inventory" in the store, so this is repeated every two days!!!!!

Sorry, but give those people some ingredients and make them WORK!! No wonder morale was so low, what a boring job. Every employee spent all this time BIT-HING the whole time.

So people it's up to us to educate people and give them quality and freshness. Once people finally taste something fresh and tasty it is an awakening for them!!!!
