i am new to baking & decorating..was looking for a good book for reference......can anyone tell me between wilton vol3 & wilton uses of tip which book is best?..thank u.
i have the tip book. i think its a great help visually when deciding on what tips to use and what the end result will look like.
For reference: the tip book. For ideas: the yearbooks. For learning: the internet and a whole lotta practice!
Only problem with the Wilton tip book is they have quite a few tips shown in the book that are no longer available. I found that out by trying to purchase several tips because I liked what the book showed they did, only to find out that the tips had been discontinued by Wilton. They recently re-published the same version that was last published in 1989 and didn't take out any of the discontinued tips, so just keep that in mind when you're looking at it. But it is a good reference for ideas on how to use the tips effectively and for more than one design. I haven't tried any of their yearbooks yet.
I have both books, and while are both are very helpful, I probably look at the Wilton Vol. 3 the most. The Wilton Encyclopedias (if you can get them) are so very helpful--full of ideas and explanations. Some of the cakes are a little dated, but the basic ideas and techniques are still very helpful.
