Of all the talk about bakery cakes, I have to say that I am impressed with Publix supermaket's bakery. Well, at least the one near were I live.

I went to check out their selection of cakes, and boy, let me tell you that they have a LOT of variety...

They have from simple cakes, to stacked cakes, I am talking stacked for birthdays, very nice decorating that goes beyond what I have seen other places, etc...

Their cakes almost look Wilton like in style...

So, I give them thumbs_up.gif for their efforts... They even have 2 story castles...

I can't say enough, I was just too impressed with their cakes...

Out of all the grocery store cakes I've tasted, they taste decent. You can still tell it's a "grocery cake" but it's not bad. (well the cake part)

Usually Kroger's is the worst (decorated and taste-wsie) however, I was at a bigger Kroger in a "nicer" neighborhood on Sunday. I was very impressed. They offered character cakes, doll cakes, etc. That is the first time I've seen that anywhere.

I use to get all my cakes from publix before I started doing my own. I tought I would save money by doing it myself and I just ended up enjoying it more.

Publix made a great princess castle cake for my daughter it looked great! My friend ordered the same cake from another publix and it didn't look as good as mine.

I think it depends on which publix you go to and how long it has been around. I think one that has been around longer might have employees who have been doing it longer.

I am glad to see that a lot of you agree with me as far as Publix cakes go...

If I am in need (I can't make it myself icon_redface.gif ) I am going to PUBLIX!!!

Oh, I should've added that they have a nice variety of cake toppers that I can buy from them and use it on my cakes!!!

Yes, they are a chain of supermarkets like Winn Dixie and Albertsons.

I love Publix when it comes to grocery stores! icon_biggrin.gif Before I started decorating I loved their pies too. And they have the best subs...to me, they're better than Subway or other sub chains. At lunchtime they are packed.

Wow, those novelty cakes they do look great. I wonder where they get their specialty boxes to accomodate the 3D and taller cakes.

I had a Publix cake at a 1st birthday party lastweek and the frosting was great. I went online to see if I could find the Publix recipe and there are a lot of people out there looking for it but no one has it. Nice and light, fluffy, creamy, and not too sweet. ahhhh! icon_razz.gif
