I have seen a lot of great wrestling ring cakes but I am not sure what the best thing is to use for the posts and rope. I want something sturdy since the customer is going to put the figures on herself when she gets the cake. Thanks for any suggestions.

How about licorice whips for ropes and gumpaste posts? Or you could buy those candy sticks that are like candy canes. Post pictures when you're done. I'd love to see how it came out!

I made a wrestling ring cake and used pretzel rods for the posts and the pull apart twizzlers for the ropes. I had a lot of issues attatching the ropes to the posts. I would recommend using the licorice ropes that come in a swirl because they are longer. Maybe tie them to the posts? I just wanted to let you know what didn't work for me. icon_wink.gif Hope this helps.

I drilled holes in plastic dowel rods and then inserted red string licorice around the cake. Worked pretty well. The licorice got a little limpy.
