Ok so ive bought some Sugarflair Whitening to add to my buttercream to ice a cake with to obviously make it white.
But i am unsure how much to add and how to add it as there are no instructions.
Do i just add the powder to the icing? Or do i have to mix it with something? And how much should i add?
Thanks, Sarah
I've never used the Sugarflair brand of whitener, only Wilton's white-white and the CK white gel colour.
I would have suggested adding it like 1/4 tsp at a time but then I googled it and found this site - she uses much more:

Personally I would add little by little. I can tell you that Wilton's white-white changed the consistency of my buttercream, and it also contains Titanium Dioxide as the main ingredient. Although it is a liquid, it made the BC kind of powdery and when piping it it had ragged edges. I didn't have that problem with the CK white gel colour.
Beating your butter well before adding your icing sugar will also result in a whiter icing to begin with so you may be able to use less of whatever whitener you use.
You can also add just the tiniest bit of violet to cancel out the yellow to make it whiter. Jut touch a toothpic tip in the violet and then touch that to your BC. You can always add a little more but you can't take it away

Wow, great tip!
