Has Anyone Used Any Of The Duff Products?

I was just wondering if anyone has used any of the DUFF products. The fondant, cake mix or the buttercream?
I haven't, it's too expensive for me. Plus I made a "pledge" not to buy any of his stuff. (suggestion made by Leah_s)
"His" fondant is Satin Ice or Fondarific, can't remember which.
there have been a few post about the Duff fondant and some of his impression mats. If you do a search of the forums for "Duff Product" or "Duff Fondant" or "Duff Mat" i am sure the reviews will show up.
I tried the food color this morning. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm letting my bc sit for a bit to see if it darkens.
The fondant (which I'm told is Fondarific) is wonderful! It tastes really, really good - much better than I expected. It was easy to work with using a mold. My next project will be a bow with it, and I'm curious to see how that will work.
I bought the black fondant (with a coupon) and it does taste really delicious. Far better flavor than Satin Ice so I doubt it's Satin Ice unless it's been tweaked for him.
I bought his food coloring Wednesday night but havent tried it yet. Ive heard its pretty good though.
I bought the jewel colors. I used the gold and saphire. The gold, is the perfect color that I was looking for. The saphire, I used ALOT to get it to the dark color that I wanted and added a touch of black. After about 3 hours, it's finally darkening to the color that I wanted.

We are each our own person. If Leah_S doesn't want to use his fondant than fine, but if you want to try it go ahead. Most of us don't have access to any other fondant but Wilton because that is all the stores carry, it is nice to have this available if I want it.
His fondant isn't any more expensive than the Satin Ice or Fondarific I've bought retail in Denver and Salt Lake City (I go in search of retail fondant in every big city I visit). It's twice as much to buy it retail as opposed to ordering it off the internet, but when you need it in your hands fast, retail is a good option.
And sometimes it is nice to run and grab a nice rich red or deep black rather than pulling your hair out trying to achieve that perfect shade.

ABSOLUTELY!!!! I will never try to mix red or black fondant again if I can manage it.

That isn't what I meant It's an "inside" joke from a thread that was posted the other day. Actually I did buy a 2 pound tub of red fondant with my 40% off coupon. I couldn't have afforded it otherwise. I use Michele Foster's fondant but hate to have to color fondant RED.
I would like to have those jewel colors. Just have to wait for another coupon.
I bought the black fondant last week and HATED it!!! I'm almost 100% positive that it is Fondarific- the flavor was fantastic, but I had a B***CH of a time working with it. It was way stickier than I'm used to (I'm a Satin Ice girl) and cost me WAY too much time. (I wasted half a bucket peeling it off my cake and starting over...)

Not what I wanted to hear. Hopefully I'll have better luck with mine.
I bought 2 "Duff" impression pads and hate them, they barely leave an impression compared to Wiltons
I have to say, though, that I didnt microwave it like the package recommends. I don't own a microwave, so I just kneaded it by hand. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to microwave before using.
bless you chefjulie for having to knead it by hand!
it comes out of the package rock hard, so def. micro it for 20 sec. or so. i loved the black fondant...and have bought it twice...with coupons of course
mamawrobin...just go to the site www.retailmenot.com and type in michaels. it will pull up any current michaels coupons and you can print them and go right to the store with them. print as many and as much as you want of the same coupon...doesn't matter. the store will only take one at a time tho...so sometimes i go once a day
I ran out of red Satin Ice yesterday and purchased Duff's red fondant. The color was great along with the taste. Other than that, I absolutely HATED it. The fondant was extremely sticky and difficult to work with. It stretched every time I attempted to put it on the cake. Reminded me of chewing gum. It did not dry well even after sitting overnight. The sculpted items I made with it were still wet and tacky. I will never use it again and would rather resort to using Wilton in an emergency. It's too bad because I had high expectations and loved the color.

That was my experience, EXACTLY!!!!!! Great color and taste- AWFUL to work with!!!
I just tried to use Duff's "cake tattoo's" for fun today and they were horrible. First of all, the taste was very chemical and they did not stick very well. I saw them at Michael's the other day and I bought them just to see how they worked. They looked cool, however in my opinion I would not buy them again.
I bought some of the white duff fondant and it is definately not fondarific. i sampled both of them right after each other. while duff is the best local stuff i can buy it def is not as good as the fondarific in my opinion. also i found the duff very hard to work with. it literly was almost melting in my hand. I couldn't imagine covering a cake with it.
I had to mix Duff's fondant with the leftover Satin Ice I had in order for it to cover my cake. I let the fondant sit out uncovered for approximately 30 minutes after mixing it with the Satin Ice for it to be halfway suitable to work with. It took several attempts before I was actually able to get the cake covered becase of the tackiness and stretching. What a nightmare! I told my husband that maybe it will work better if I let Duff's fondant sit out for a few hours or overnight before using.
I bought the silver spray paint. It worked beautifully! I just did a practice with it and used a stencil but everyone thought it was really cute.
That sounds horrible, I hate to hear fellow cake baker's wasting valuable money on a product that you would think be a higher value in quality, especially the mats & most of all the fondant, I was going to purchase the dark chocolate fondant, but I dont think I will now, LOL....Hang in there ladies, this is how we learn...Have an awesome day xoxoxox

Thank you I'll do that. So....you didn't have any problems with the black fondant?
