Filling suggestions for Lavender-Flavored cake

I'm at a loss. I make lavender flavored cupcakes and top with lavender buttercream. A friend really likes them, and wants a lavender wedding cake. All fine and good, but I really think it should have a filling other than buttercream...any ideas on what fruit or flavor would pair well with it? The cake will be covered with fondant.

What about a lemon filling? Also would you mind sharing your lavender recipe?

Thanks

Would white chocolate mousse go well with that flavor? Sounds light and heavenly!

my suggestion with ANY flavor is always "cheesecake mousse" as a filling!

It's light and mild, yet decadent and delicious but it doesn't compete with other flavors.

1 box instant cheesecake pudding mix
1 c. cold milk
2 c. liquid Rich's bettercreme

add all to a bowl and whip until light and fluffy DELICIOUS!

actually, last summer I made a chocolate lavendar cake for a garden party It got rave reviews. I mixed chocolate bu
ttercream with dried lavendar flowers. I guess you wouldn't have to use chocolate though...

I think a nice vanilla pastry creme would be perfect.
If you can't be good- be good at it.

What DOESN'T white chocolate mousse go with! Mmmmm.....

I second the white chocolate suggestion. Either white chocolate mousse or white chocolate ganache. I would be concerned that lemon, as a strong flavour, would detract from the lavender (which, incidentally, sounds delicious!).

Wow! What yummy suggestions! They all sound good. I love lavender chocolate truffles but would not do chocolate with this one. The white chocolate, cheesecake or lemon sound like perfection for a wedding cake.

Classic for lavender cake is dark chocolate ganache. But also vanilla in any frsting/filling works really well.

We have a cupcake at work that has a lemon BC on top, and a lavender coconut cream filling.... Soooo Yummy! The flavors work really well together.
