Fellow bakers,
Does anyone know who created this masterpiece?!
Some moms on my local on-line moms forum are in love with it and either want to make it themselves or have someone local make it for them.

The best part....wait for it....here it comes........

They estimate the price to be around $150! Yes, $150 US dollars!!

I would love to hear from the artist how much she/he charges for this cake.

I agree...without knowing the exact size/serving amount I would guess well over $400...that cake was a ton of work. It's beautifully done.

Personally, I told them I would guess closer to $1000 - there is a lot of handmade work (popcorn, lollipops, etc.).

that cake was done by Andrea on flickr. you could probably do a search for her on there and send her a message.

Just assuming it's a 6-9-12, calling it about 100 servings, I'd charge $5 per serving for this particular cake...so $500

$150! All I see is someone not selling cakes much longer.

Thanks! I searched for it using a bunch of different key words and just couldn't find it.

You need to remind your friend how much time is going to go into that cake. There is a ton of detail work on that cake. Think like 10-12 hours at least just to decorate.

Andrea's cakes are wonderful. She was one of the cake decorator invited to teach a class on January at the NY Cake Convention. She did not come on Saturday to teach the class, but she teaches classes at her home (all the way in Canada). The class price was $165 (I think). It's worth it because she is super talented.
A cake like this one will cost more than $150. I think the person who will do it does not know too much about cake decorating because this cake has lots of work hours and you want to price the time that will take you to finish it no the cost of the ingredients.

Tell those moms to triple or quadruple their estimate.

I told them that my guess would be closer to $800; the supplies alone for that cake (look at all the fondant she used) would creep up towards $100.
