I confess.... I was so busy with company and making the carousel cake for my daughter's 1st bday last weekend that I ran short of time and did the un-thinkable...
For the bday dinner, she was having a dinner party at Olive Garden with flowers and the works. I wanted to make a cupcake bouquet instead of a cake for this but didn't have any more time for baking, so what did I do???? I went to WalMart, bought up mini cupcakes and got them home, scraped off the icing and away I went with re-decorating. (not bashing WalMart btw) I'm laughing about it now.
Dare to share stories? Would love to hear them.

Funny!

Yes, well my niece has informed her mom that she wants a cake from a grocery store this year - because I don't put toys on cakes! Although I did do a handmade gumpaste figurine for her last year.

Sure have. Try that with the 2-bite brownies. Needed a fast give for a teacher and did not feel like baking. Went to the store and bought the brownies already made. Popped them in the liners, then onto the bouquet and them decorated them. Had a fancy gift in under an hour.

By the time the kids b-days come around they are "caked" out and want a DQ cake. So I order one un-decorated and decorate it myself icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, your replies are brilliant! I thought I did something that made me feel the need to go hide under a rock! lol.
I guess as long as it's not for someone who is paying for and expecting comletely homemade, it's really not that bad.
I have to say that only the icing was eaten off the cuppies. Thank God that's the part I made. icon_wink.gif
