Disco Party Silhouettes....any Ideas How To...
Decorating By awela Updated 1 Mar 2010 , 12:21am by awela
Cake is for March 6th, I'M AT THE HOSPITAL SINCE YESTERDAY! Cake, frosting, filling are ready; but yesterday shoveled snow and ended up in the hospital. I need some advise as to how to prepare the silhouettes (LOOK AT THE ATTACHMENT BELOW). Any ideas as to how to create/dry out them? They're supposed to be stocked on top of the cake which is supposed to be the dancing floor. Thanks for any advise.
P.S. I HOPE TO GET OUT OF THE HOSPITAL TOMORROW.......thank you
I hope you feel better soon.
I would probably roll out the fondant/gumpaste, wait for it to harden and then trace the images out with a sharp scalpal. That's how I copied the letters on my heineken cake but I'm no expert.
What about using dark chocolate candy melts? I've used that for silhouettes before. The chocolate cools pretty quickly and is nice and firm for standing them up.
Why not ask this person:

I recently saw this cake here on CC. (I think just today)
Feel better!!
I wouldn't be surprised if she tells you that she used the Cricut...
That's how I did mine and it worked perfectly!
I hope you feel better soon.

I'd roll out fondant mixed with tylose thin, put the template over it, cut it out and let it dry, then paint it up. That's how Sugarshack did her Disco cake: http://www.cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=1159361
Thank you soo much to everyone who answered my question. I think I got excellent ideas. GOD BLESS!
