I am finally stepping out of my comfort zone of making bundt cakes and would like to make a sheet cake. Does anyone have a good recipe for a yellow sheet cake for a 12x18x2 pan? Thanks for any suggestions icon_biggrin.gif

A 12x18x2 is what is called a half sheet cake. It takes 14 cups of batter. I use the yellow cake recipe I found on Wilton, but any yellow cake will do. You need to see how many cups of batter the recipe takes and multiply until you get 14 cups. The recipe on Wilto, and most standard recipes make about 5 1/2 to 6 cups of batter. So you would use 2 1/2 batches. The recipe I mentioned is as follows, remember you need 2 1/2 times of everything if your mixer will handle it!
Recipe Box
Basic Yellow Cake
  3 cups sifted cake flour
  2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  1/2 teaspoon salt
  1 3/4 cups sugar
  2/3 cup butter or margarine
  2 eggs
  1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  1 1/4 cups milk
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom of two 8-inch round cake pans and line with waxed paper or parchment paper. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; set aside. Cream sugar and butter together until light. Add eggs and vanilla to creamed mixture and beat until thoroughly mixed. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Continue beating one minute. Spread batter evenly in prepared pans. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool layers in pans on wire racks 10 minutes. Remove from pans; cool completely. Fill and frost as desired.
Makes 12 servings.
