I can't remember if it was suggested on CC- but I remember reading that you can use a turkey baster to fill cupcake liners with batter. I tried it, but my baster must not have enough suction to handle the heavier consistency of batter. I always make such a mess and can never seem to make uniform sized cupcakes. IF any one has used this method can you share with me what brand of baster you use? Or another easier way to fill them? I've tried an ice cream scoop as well. TIA!
I use a #12 ice cream scoop. make a nice size cupcake and is very neat.
scoop into batter and swipe across side of bowl to catch the drip and drop into liner.
I tried the baster in the past and had the same results. I find it's easiest to fill a large pastry bag with the batter and fill the cupcakes. If you make cuppies often, you may want to buy a pancake batter dispenser. Those are awesome. You can get them on Amazon.
I just use a little scoop to do it, and am fine with that method, BUT, I did just see an advertisement somewhere for a pancake batter dispenser that I thought would work well for cupcakes.
This isn't the exact one I saw, but this is the concept: http://www.easycomforts.com/EasyComforts/Shopping/ProductDetail.aspx?CID=Kitchen&SCID=Handy+Helpers&ProductID=0000136683&SourceCode=30509000002&mr:referralID=eeeac3da-141f-11df-8544-000423c27407
Thanks for the suggestions! I'll have to keep my eye out for a cheap pancake dispenser.
Williams Sonoma sells one and it's great, that's what I use.
