Anyone have a good recipe for a crusting cream cheese frosting? I know it probably won't be like buttercream, but it would be nice for it to be stiff enough to use on borders and some simple decorating.

I use this recipe...

Crusting Cream Cheese Buttercream

1/2 Cup Veg. Shortening
1/2 Cup (one stick) unsalted butter @ room temp
1 Cup (8oz Bar) Cream Cheese @ room temp
1 T Clear Vanilla Extract
2 lbs. Sifted Powdered Sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Add Vanilla , beating until smooth. Sift together powdered sugar and salt, then add to butter, creamcheese, shortening mixture one cup at a time. Mix until light and fluffy.

It crust just like buttercream and taste like cream cheese....

Thanks a lot! I will definately try it tomorrow. I do have a really good recipe for a whipped cream/cream cheese frosting that is wonderfully delicious and light, but you can't really do too much with it.

Thanks again.
