How To Make And Fondant A Sphere Cupcake?
Baking By marushka Updated 9 Dec 2009 , 9:02pm by marzipandoll
I was looking to make individual ball-shaped ornaments - Does anyone know the best way to make these and how you would cover with fondant?
Thanks!
Michelle
The Wilton mini ball pan will make ornaments about 3" in diameter. Bake, level, stick two together, crumb coat and cover in fondant. Roll out a circle of fondant larger than you need and a wee bit on the thick side. Smooth down, pull out, smooth down - just like on a regular cake. Work all the edges to the bottom and trim off. Not as hard as it sounds, especially if you hold your mouth just right with the tip of your tongue between your teeth to limit the cursing . There are smaller siliconflex half-rounds here :

Thank you- I will definitley get some of those pans. I hope the fondanting isn't too painful but it sounds like something that will just take some practice.
Thanks again!
I use the ball shape Wilton pan too, and I was a little scared of it first, but I was able to cover it with no folds and cracks really smooth. Not hard at all! GL!
