ok thank you AGAIN lol.

The cupcake prices in my area are about 3.... so $2 would be reasonable right?

also kansaswolf, i checked out your site (i tried to use that template and it messed up my logo!) How many layers are in your base cakes (hope that makes sense lol) and how did you determine the prices of you "extras"

Another big question.... how did you guys coem up with your prices? like the cakes and such? when i did my "ingrediants" it was too low..... now im just ball parking it....... my hubby ( who acts like he knows alot lol) Says I should charge my labour $12 an hour.....

ok let me make it easier lol, how did you come up with your prices?

Oh, I also thought of this-not sure if anyone else has said this. There is a famous baker named The Cake Diva, so...it may e a bad idea to use her name. Just something to think about.

You're in canada so it might be ok but just check when you register the name there.
Your cuppies should be 2.50 if the going rate is 3.00 icon_smile.gif
I came up with my pricing like I mentioned in a previous post called around got the going rate then priced my own recipes and started there. Based on how much I pay for fondant I charge a 1.00 more for it.

the going rate is $2.75.... and for the people that i have ordering right now, they wont pay $2.50... so for now im going to go with $1.50 (just so i keep getting the customers i have already lol)

That still gives me a good profit.

Also do you also charge for labour? if so how much per hour?

Also, are you licensed? I believe someone else brought this up, but unless you are licensed, you should definitely NOT post prices.

Always charge for the number of servings the cake is designed to serve. A person may take a 10" cake and cut it in half to share with a girlfriend who also doesn't have a date on Valentine's Day, but the 2 young ladies are PAYING for a cake for 38 people.

If you buy a bucket of chicken designed to feed 6 people and tell them you're going to eat it all by yourself, they WON'T reduce the price to $3.99 instead of $24.99.

I had a lady come in and wanted a sheet cake. "How many people are you needing to feed?" She said 10. I said, "My smallest cake serves 35 and it's $50." She bought it and wrote me a check then and there.

ok thank you i am figuring out a much better pricing system.

No I am not licensed.... is it really that bad to post prices? if so may I ask why?

I should let everyone know that currently this site is for FREINDS AND FAMILY...... once I accumulate some money to invest into my company I will be licenceing..... I cannot afford to license it right now.

I hope that isnt terrible bad...... Im not sure where else to start?

Doing cakes for friends and family is just fine and if they're who you're doing the cakes for don't post prices on the site as the health dept could see it and assume that you are selling to the public and that's a no no if not licensed.

If this page is only for family and friends for now, you could take down your pricing and say "contact me for pricing details" or something to that effect. That way, you won't be actually "advertising for sale", you'll just be showing off your skills.

I would contact your local agriculture or health department to make sure you are ok doing this without being licensed.

Also, several of your pages do not have tab data. If you use firefox or IE, the tabs are a toolbar that show the title for each page. The tabs are showing "blank page" for several pages - something to change.

Yes you are advertising for sale, if it says anything about a price, whether the actual price is listed or not. If it's just for family and friends, then it must be carefully worded so nothing implies a business transaction will result.

You've done a lot of work good on you!
As for pricing it's low but it'll get better. Having a deposit for any stands you rent out is a great idea!
Keep it up

Your website is cute, CakeDiva! And I really like the logo. Just a couple of typo/grammatical issues on your About Me page: on the second sentence of the first paragraph you've got a space between the "I" and the apostrophe in "I've". And in the last paragraph it should read "seeing the faces...", and you want to add an apostrophe to the end of peoples so it reads "brings smiles to peoples' faces".

Good luck and great job!

I give you bonus points for the changes. Good job!

I would revise this part

"My favorite part of cake decorating, is see the face of the recipients."

It might be quite confusing to other people but I totally understand what you mean.

Other than that, you are all good.
