Hi, I would really love to start making cupcake bouquets, but the one time I tried, when I stuck the skewer into the bottom of the cupcake, the cupcake just tilted and then fell off the stick. Any idea how to get the cupcake to stay on the stick nice and straight?
I think I saw a tutorial once, where the lady used little clear cups that she hot glued onto the stick. Then she set the cupcakes down into the little plastic thing. No one saw the plastic cup because it was covered by the paper in the bucket. I hope this is making sense. The plastic things were only about half as tall as the cupcake. Hope this helps.
Not sure if this is what you're talking about, but I used 2 toothpicks in the polystyrene ball and pushed the cupcake down onto them, which worked fine. If you're talking having the cupcake up on the end of a stick, maybe 2 skewers would work. Hope this helps!
i didn't buy the styro ball because it was too expensive! i used rocks and/or small pea gravel in the bottom of a flower pot up to about 2-3 inches from top. then cut a foam core circle to fit in. this keeps the rocks from spilling out and also acts as stabalization for the dowel rods you're going to use. have small plastic portion cups (gfs or any restaurant supply has them) turned upside down with dowel rods skewered through them , through the foam circle, and down into the gravel. these plastic cups will now act as a seat for your cupcakes to sit on top of...a base, basically. cut your dowel rod so only about an inch is going up into the cupcake, then skewer your cupcake down onto the dowel rod and until it's sitting on the plastic cup. voila!
i actually posted a tutorial last year, in late july or early august, "my cupcake bouquet tutorial" or something like that with pics to demonstrate the steps. alot of people seems to have good luck using it!
I just saw a video on YouTube and she used foam in the flower pot. Poked two tooth picks per cupcake into the foam. Then took the toothpicks out and inserted them into the cupcake then back into the holes in the foam. Toothpicks were spaced sorta evenly between the diameter of the cupcake.
