I Need Some Help!! - Adjusting Cake Recipe
Decorating By Loopy_lou321 Updated 3 Jun 2009 , 4:04pm by JanH
Hi there
Have found a really good chocolate cake recipe online but it is for a 30cm round cake tin.
As I want to make a tiered cake with 3 different tins (13cm, 15cm & 20cm) how would I adjust the recipe to accommodate? The recipe doesn't say how deep their tin is but mine are all 4cm.
Can anyone help me please???
Lou

Not knowing the usual pan depths or how full you usually fill 4 cm pans, I can only suggest that you make up a batch and measure the amount of batter the recipe makes. Then fill your 4cm pan with an equivalent amount of water and see if reaches the necessary level. If it does, you're good. If it doesn't, fill the pan with water to the necessary depth and make up another batch of batter.
If you have a scale and can measure the weight of one cup of batter it will be possible to weigh out the necessary amount of batter into the pan (based on your previous water measurements).
