What is the difference between making a color flow plaque and a royal icing plaque? I am wanting to make an Elmo cake for my daughter who is going to be 1 this coming Wednesday. What is the difference?? Should I make a royal icing plaque or a color flow plaque??

What is the best way to make a plaque??

Thank you!!

One is made using the Color Flow recipe and one is done with Royal icing. They are both done with the same technique. Wilton says the Color Flow piece dries harder and with a shine to it, where as the royal doesn't have the shine.

I've done most of mine with Royal icing as I don't keep color flow on hand and haven't ever had a problem with it. The biggest I have done is about an 8in circle but had no problem getting it off the paper and putting it on the cake.
