I could really use some ideas and especially pictures. A client of mine wants a tennis cake for her 40+ brother's birthday. I want to do an 8" round cake, because I would like to get a stronger portfolio of that cake shape. It only has to feed 8-10 people, so it seemed like a good match.

I am thinking of doing a mini-ball on top of the cake done like a tennis ball of course. Then something with a tennis racket. I tried to find ones to put on the cake, but couldn't. The best I got was chocolate mold for tennis rackets crossed, so I am thinking to do one on each side of the tennis ball (the ball is at the top of the cake, not centered). The write Happy Birthday beneath. The problem is, I really suck at molding chocolate. The detail work never comes out right, but I can't think of an alernative right now. Hey, could I mold fondant in a chocolate mold, and then paint it?

I could really use some pictures if you can find any. I haven't had much luck searching the web.

TIA!

You can use fondant in candy molds, just dust with powdered sugar first for easy release. I'm envisioning something with grass and the white court line, a small racquet with a ball. I find 8" cakes hard to decorate b/c there's not alot of room. Post a picture when you finish!
