Hi everyone! I have a question about my dough. I am making sugar cookies, that I have made before from this same dough. I followed the same exact recipe, but this time my dough is cracking as I am rolling it out and it is not dry and crumbly so I don't know what is wrong. How do I fix it. I can semi-smooth it when I form the shapes, but then it bakes wrinkly. What should I do?

Thanks so much for your help!

Now it is too late to really help you with the current problem.

But for the next time:
Did you switch anything? I mean - the last time I had the exact same problem, I used another brand of flour. I still use this flour, but not for my cookies!
The same problem can be if you switch butter for shortening or the other way round, even if you switch the brand of shortening.

I would suspect the flour - even if it was the same brand as the time before, it could be an off batch. Unfortunately, you cannot fix this problem easily. I threw out 2kg (4lb) of cookie dough because of this. icon_sad.gif

Oh, don't throw out cookie dough! If you can't roll it out for cookies, then use it to line mini muffin pans, and make tassies or mini pies!

Oh, great idea Theresa! I will do that with the leftover dough!

I did do one thing different, which is probably my culprit....I was out of milk so I used sour cream and a teeny of water.

They were a test batch for my friend and she liked a different batch anyway.
