Didn't have one of those so used a wood skewer, worked ok.
Did you glue it to the board and thread the cake through or just stick it in the cake??
AThat's the one, although as nanny says there are other ways :) I prefer the gallon stick as you can bend them :D straight through the cake chezza, the cup keeps it there :D
Morning all
The cake decorating company are offering 20% off all products enter ilovecakedec at the checkout.
AI have seen it done with that didn't have one, just stuck it through the cake and cemented it in with melted choc, seems stable enough, but maybe if they were heavier chocs, it may not be.
AYou can get a pack of them on eBay for a few squid :)
Aargh! Raining cats and dogs! Gotta go out and get some supplies in before we leave tonight! :'(
Kathy dinky doodles sell their own pearlised colours.
I put a code on earlier for 20% off if you order anything from the cake decorating comapany, so if you decide to buy from them don't forget to use it.
Or you could use lustre dusts over your colours or glitter dusts.
Kathy, I would have had a word with CI organisers if the Edable Art were selling their products there. They may not be aware of the court case and the fact that the woman was passing off plastic and brass as edible material.
Ok, I know this is getting a bit boring now. I've got a bee in my bonnet!! I'll just post this, which I got from the Paul Bradford website, a response from their customer support when someone asked about Edable Art:
The EdAble Art glitter is splitting the cake decorating world in the UK at the moment. It has been reported to be non-edible, but they have gone to great lengths to prove that its inert so therefore non toxic and not harmful. As things stand the FSA have not clarified the position which is leaving everyone to draw there own conclusions. Our view is that its fine for removable decorations, but until the FSA clarify the position it would be down to individuals to decide whether they want to use it as edible decoration.
It was my understanding that you can still use it for decorations that will not be consumed. For example Georgie Godbold makes little ********** "wobbly" figures and uses glitters on them. But as they also have pipe cleaners for legs and arms they wouldn't be eaten.
For those going to CI EdableArts are usually on the first stand at the entrance and people are elbowing themselves in to get near. Georgie is usually demoing her "wobblies" on that stand too. Worth a look!
Oh I didn't see any "wobblies" at CI earlier this year. Yes - they say on the label (if I remember rightly as I've now thrown mine away) "poorly absorbed". I had been using it on things that I deemed removable but where does the liability lie if somebody eats it deliberately or accidentally and they are subsequently taken ill? I got rid because I thought I would rather not risk it. Most of the cakes I have done have been for children so I would hate for anyone to get ill. I believe it is fine as a craft object but I don't do cards or stuff like that. Would people, for example, use stationery glitter on their removable items? I think it was poorly marketed and the use of the words "EdAble" very suspect - how did we know the names of these mice it was supposedly named after. Really? Jean - CI did know about it in April - there was a bit of a stink at the time. Some people strongly objected but CI just let it go. I tried hard to see what they were putting it across as and I think they were selling it as non-edible, non-toxic. It's the latter that causes me a problem because according to the court ruling, I don't think there was any proof that ground up plastic and copper were definitively non-toxic. I am, however, not sure if the case was appealed.
Thanks for the code Roxy - will check that out. Thought I would buy myself an organiser box for all my colours as my current one is too small. Is it strange to be excited over a plastic box (with compartments)!?
Kathy
No that's not strange at all Kathy I'm exactly the same as I'm guessing most of us are on here. I ordered a progels turquoise yesterday and it has just arrived, looks a lovely colour hoping to use it on my mum's frozen cake in a couple of weeks.
Lynn, yes that seems to be the case. My concern is that the ebay seller is not making this clear. Sugarshack sell these products, but in all caps they state that they are non edible. Still leaves the problem of migration though?
I've been having a look at my sugarflair dusts. Says non toxic- are these edible?
Petitecat I have just looked on the rainbow dusts website, it states on there that non toxic glitters are recommended to be removed before eating but not sure if that applies to lustre dusts to.

What box are you looking at buying Kathy if you don't mind me being nosey
I've bought it! Lol. It's a 3 tier large clear plastic storage box with a handle - for some reason I cannot get the link to copy cost £15.99 free p&p. I needed one with a handle so I can carry it about. I have graduated from my fishing tackle box to a tool box and now I need even more space. I also need some containers for my Kroma colours as they are quite tall. Any suggestions Roxy?
Oh goodness - not Sugarflair dusts????? Pleeeezzeee - I have to say I have been using them for ages and I'm alright - well there are loads who would argue that fact so scratch that.
Kathy
Sounds good Kathy don't you just love getting new stuff to organise you bits, I have kept my kroma colours in the box they came in so far but what about something like this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003VVS7LY/?tag=cakecentral-20+storage+box
No sure of sizes for the bottle but you could probably get something similar in stationary stores etc

Kathy
Here is what I put mine in Kathy think I got this is Asda! Very handy and heres what else i do
alas my life is still organised chaos even if the cake room isn't
Like I said yesterday Tiddy your full of good ideas, I will be nicking the cupcakes in a jar idea
Oh I love that Idea Tiddy - I'm going to chuck out the spaghetti (nobody even eats that - well, not often). I can't have the caddy carry thingy because I store my stuff in the garage so it has to have a lid on it - sadly I don't have a cake room
Kathy
Whoo Hooo! Have just ordered my cake frame online, finally. I had to phone them up as it wasn't showing as the special launch price since I made the call they have changed the price on the site. I of course ordered extra bits that I absolutely need Can't wait so excited just hope it doesn't take to long for them to start sending them out.
What do you get with it Roxy? I have looked on the site and it's a bit confusing......
A[@]Tiddylicious[/@]. [@]nannycook121[/@] Are you two the only guys going to be there Sunday now?
