the fb thing is still going believe it or not. Im staying out of it now though.

To cut a very long story short, new baker, dowelled a cake wrong, took a picture and posted for advice, was immediately shot down and rather than given advice was basically laughed at and told the cake would collapse etc etc, just awful! So i ended up adding her to friends in the hope she would see it (which she did) then helped her rescue the cake, and told her to come here :-D

I know she has signed up as i saw her name pop up but think they may be modding her posts (why do they do that!) anyway I know everyone will make her feel welcome here :)

sorry cant help....i cheated and just purchased a mahoosive bag of pre made

Where did you buy the premade stuff room tiddy? I didn't think you could get it premade because it dries so fast. I might give making my own a go but would be nice to know I can buy some already made if it all goes pear shaped.

AHahaha, that's just a polite way of saying I'm nosey guys! :-D How much of a numpty am I gona feel now if I'm wrong?!

I still haven't caught up from yesterday but got a quick question if you don't mind. I've just made some cake lace, it looks ok too, I'm really happy with it. How do I store it though? I was going to put it on my dummy but I ended up ripping the SP off in frustration. I haven't for time to re cover it cos I need to go shopping before Leah comes home so I need to store it somehow.

Kathy I know Nanny broke her phone, her screen I think so she can't see to type. Lovely garden cake btw, I forgot how good it was. :-)

Maisie sprinkle some cornflour on your greaseproof too to ensure it won't stick. Just noticed Clare B had added that to he storage instructions.

I was playing with the Alexandra cake lace mat this morning experimenting with colours for my next wedding cake - Christmas theme. I tried the premixed pearlised white, soft silver and soft gold. Initial thoughts were that the soft gold might be a bit dark so I mixed some with the pearlised white which took some of the "brassiness" away but may not be dark enough.  I also made some original Cake Lace which I am going to dust with some different golds to see what looks best with the ivory or white fondant. The Bride to be has left that choice up to me. I used the SK vintage ivory to cover my peach cake last week so I may use that again as I liked how it handled. (I'll be knocking on Tiddy's door!!;-D )

I don't do FB or Twitter (have enough problems keeping up with you all here without joining another form of "chat". Can't understand how folks can be so nasty to someone wanting advice.

I've been a bit naughty this week - ordering "bits" from here and there and most arrived this morning. Halloween stencils, Halloween coloured glitter and lustre, a gadget to help get straight sides from PWC

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 100

sugarveil spreader which could help with ganaching large cakes as it is 12" wide. On sale at The Cake Decorating Co.

and the Impressit Halloween set from Purple cupcakes. More gadgets to sneak in.;-) Yikes I need to move away from the keyboard or restrain myself until CI.

Does anyone read Shauna McGreevy's blog? http://www.mcgreevycakes.com/ She is posting tutorials now and today there is a free bag cake tutorial by Elisa Strauss.

Have a good weekend everyone. Hope patients are improving (my mum seems to have gone backwards this week - sadly). Enjoy Rome Kuuushy. To much to see, eat and drink without checking in here.

Mel if it is your birthday this weekend - have a lovely time.

Thank you. It was awful hearing her crying with pain on Tuesday and being helpless so may miles away. Not that I could do anything but comfort her if I was closer.

AAw bless your mam Lynne. Is there nothing they can do for her? She's been suffering a long time now hasn't she? It must be dragging her down now.

Thanks for showing me tiddy, fun or not, well done. :-)

Does anyone know if you can colour cake lace with lustre dust? I was only making it for practise but it's turned out so well I might just use it on my wedding cake. White's no good tho, it has to be black or burgundy.

7 weeks now Maisie - she is so low.

Yes you can dust the cake lace - I used shimmer peach on my cake last week and applied it with a fat blusher brush. You can buy the cake lace in black too.

ADespite the worrying quietness on this thread, I'm posting a question!

I'm far fom completing my sugar flower spray. Once I do though, I plan to use them on dummies. The question is, how? For dummies is it easier to just stick the flowers one at a time with RI, or have a complete spray then stick the bunch on the cake? I'm trying to visualise this but I'm struggling!

ANanny! :-D :-D :-D we've missed you. Welcome back. X

Thanks Lynne. I know you and your sister have probably asked but is there nothing the doctors can do for your mam? 7 weeks is a long time. I know shingles are bad and I know everything's worse for the elderly but for her to be crying in pain, that's not on, surely they can do something for the pain at least?
