Was wondering what your thoughts were on the luster sprays at Global Sugar Art? Are they worth the money or not? I am wanting to use it on a wedding cake on MMF. TIA
i saw mike terry, using them at the conventions last year on fondant and buttercream cakes.. they were the americolor airbrush pearl, etc. they were beautiful..
I've used the gold. It works awesome! I was really surprised at how cool it looks. The only thing is that it really doesn't go as far as i thought is would. I only ordered one can (for accents) and I didnt have enough. I guess it would be more cost effective if you could use an airbrush but I didnt have one.
Is there one that looks like glitter? My sister wants her cake to have glitter on the MMF. I know the luster pearl spray is not quite that right?
I use them frequently. I sprayed my fondant wedding dress cake in the pearl luster dust. Just did a cake today and make all the flowers white, then sprayed them with pink, pearl and gold luster dusts (pic to be posted later). They are great for fast production .... you can make a bunch of white BC flowers ahead of time, then pull how ever many you need, spray them the color and put them on the cake. And since it's a luster, they look a step up on the "classy" scale than just a regular BC rose or flower.
we cant use the lustre sprays here or even the airbrush kind booohoooo as it has the ingrediant Red3 which is banned here... do you guys know of any other brands that may NOT have the red3 in it..? have been trying ad trying to find something we can bring in to NZ that we can use that is classed as foodsafe here.. cant even have the pme ones arrrrrrhhhhggghhhh

I've never seen one, even though that would be really cool, but if your sister is looking for glitter on the cake, like real craft glitter looking go with the disco dust glitters, the also sell them on gsa. They are comp;letely edible and look exactly like craft glitter! One of my all time favorite things to use ever! ( I can get a little wacky on my decor sometimes lol) A plus, they come in a bunch of colors.
I used the pearl one as well and was very happy with the results. The pearls in the "Tiffany Bridal Shower" picture were sprayed with it and it gave a very nice look to them. Smells good too.
Thanks SugarChic24, I will have to give the disco glitters a try. She was thinking that she does want a craft glitter look, so i'll start there! And thanks to everyone else that is giving me a really good place to start.
I've had one in my online shopping cart and removed it and put it back a thousand times. It's $15.00 a can so it would have to be a pretty special cake for me to use it on. I bet it sure would look nice though!
