The way they brought up the subject of the guy's cake (Jorg's?) getting smushed in the frige really grated my nerves. In other challenges, when somone goofs up, breaks a rule or something, the judges discuss it then they bring it up to the person. This time they just kept their little secret to sucker punch Courtney at the 'face the judges' portion of the program.

Now Courtney definitely should have brought it up to someone and that was a mistake on her part. I think she honestly thought that it had been done by someone else earlier--I firmly believe that. But in a competition like that you don't have a lot of room in your head for anything but drive drive drive forge ahead. So I'm not excusing her omission I'm just saying I can see how she goofed that up.

I felt so bad for Michelle! She seemed to have psyched herself out so bad. She was really totally wound way too tight.

Marina, geez she's so good, so consistent, wow.

Jorg's was cool--his stand let him down a little, should have resembled the singer more huh.

I liked 'em all--but I hated all the solid black.

I loved Courtney's cake.

This was a great challenge. On jorg's cake that piping was phenomenal! I didn't like his stand. It looked nothing like her, I thought it was kinda masculine. Even tho it didn't look like her, its such amazing talent, anyone know what it was made out of?

My favorite was the cake that won! icon_biggrin.gif The beaded sugar was my favorite part, as well as all the modeling she did, the presents, microphone, nail polish, it suited Miley so well. I wish Michelle didn't have so much trouble, that cake would have been outrageous, still was beautiful tho. For Courtney's cake, I loved the cake BUT I have to agree with her fans that were judging, the cake was great for a sweet 16 but was not Miley Cyrus at all, IMO. I felt so bad the cake damage thing, they didn't show her damaging it on camera (at least i didnt see it) so I really don't think she thought it was her fault. Anyway, all the cakes were great and it was an awesome challenge!

I watched it last night, Marina is the bomb! I love her creativity and how she keeps her cool.

Michelle was totally the opposite, hate to say this but I think most of the trouble she brought herself from being way too~ nervous, she began hyperventilating even before the contest started~

Courtney's cake is great but yes, her fans are right. I see making that cake for most of the teen girls I know~

Jorg's cake I thought would be so much better if he didn't use the statue for the best, that statue remind me alot of Michael Jackson~

The beaded sugar was awesome! anybody has any idea what did Marina use to chain them together?

Hmm. I was just thinking like fishing line or something like that but I don't know what it was. Fishing line as in clear thick thread--not as in being fishy.

I will check my notes but I believe it was clear, heavy fishing line. OSSAS last year was the week before the challenge was taped and Marina and Dawn practiced for this cake. They showed us the beads they were making and even sent around examples. It was pretty cool. They laid the string across when they put the sugar in so they were attached really well.

I feel the same way as everyone else. I loved Courtney's cake and they acted like she damaged a finished cake - it was the crumb coat! Granted, she should have said something but it wasn't the major issue they made it out to be.

It was definitely not my favorite challenge. I think Marina deserved to win, but her cake is not a typical marina cake. I guess I have to be 16 again to appreciate them. The only one with a consecutive "theme", to me, was the one with the crazy stand. I think the stand killed him, becasue he did have the best design, otherwise.

All the rest were a mish mash of color and materials. IMO, nothing really flowed.....
Having said that , I can't even fathom how difficult it must be to do one of those challenges and I commend all the participants for getting through it.

Yes I mean she wasn't back there slicing cake and stuffing her face or something. I mean you run the risk of getting your cake smushed in a communal frige like that. That's the way it goes. She pulled his cake out so there would be no hard feelings with her needing to put hers in. She put hers in behind his. He might a thought to push his in more in the first place to share the space better too.

She shoulda spoke up but that was cruel I think. I think they were ginning up some drama at her expense. Did you see her little upset face during the award thing?

It's all about drama....Buddy made that clear on the other thread. I guess I can't blame the FN...good tv has to be a little controversial!

I didnt watch the Challenge yet but I have done the pearls on clear monofilament line. Marina used it for the cake she did for the FN announcer's wedding cake (cant remember his name at the moment). But its on her website. So after seeing it, I tried it myself. All you do is put the monofilament line in the pearl mold along with your rolled gumpaste. Then when you squeeze the mold, the line automatically gets worked into it.

I really hope that this wasn't the last competition that Courtney participates in...I think she does great work and I'd hate for something like this to "haunt" her. I thought this cake was great - more Hannah Montana than Miley Cyrus - and her Finding Nemo cake in her last challenge was awesome. Hopefully she gets another chance to showcase her talent.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who watched the Miley Challenge and saw through the untrue story about me "ruining" Jorg's cake. The entire story was made up by the executive producer. We are still very upset by it, and only got to see it with everyone else when it aired for the first time. Please write letters to Food Network if you are upset by this too. We went and did our very best, and came out with an awesome cake, and this is what we get in return. No, this "sabatage" did not happen, and Jorg will also tell you this. I have lost all respect for Food Network and will never do another Challenge for them again (of course after my next Challenges air in April.....) Sorry to be the Debbie Downer, but we are very sad about this lie that they put out, it makes me terrible and that is not fair.

Thanks again to everyone who supports us, it really means a lot.

Wow Courtney! First off, welcome to Cake Central! Secondly, I really feel for you - they used you to create "drama" and that is very unfortunate because it tarnishes the spirt of show. The idea is to see the best of the best compete and I think that is what the true fans of the show want to see. If it is ratings they are after, I'm sure they can find plenty of "famewh**es" out there that would be willing to play to villian in their drama. Every other reality show seems to be able to find them! It really saddens me to know you won't be competing because I think you are very talanted and I have enjoyed the challenges you took part in - it is nice to see fresh energy out there. Good luck to you!!

Yes, warm sweet welcome to Cake Central.

I was absolutely mortified for you! I mean tv drama is tv drama but oh my soul. I mean I think I'd consider the legal angle on this if I was you. That went all over the world as already decided unsportsmanlike conduct. Not that I need to remind you I'm just saying that is clearly over the line conduct by the producers. Ugly ugly--I saw right through it girlfriend!

They need to remove that from the coverage and post a very visible apology. To besmirch your good name for the sake of tv air time borders on unforgivable.

I'm outraged on your behalf.

God, your face after they trumped that up on you.

I did go to your website and I meant to write you so I'm really glad you found us here and our posts on your behalf and supporting your good name that we all know is a very good name. I mean shoot if someone was gonna sabatoge someone on those shows (not that you did at all!!) but dang that sure wasn't much sabatage.

I mean if somebody coulda figured out how to have his rock & roll girl stand be picking her nose instead of holding her mike or something now that woulda been sabatage!!!

We knew it was the producers!!! Dirty bums!

Your cake Rocked too!!!

(((((giant hug)))))

Courtney, your cakes are really awesome and I think most people can see that it was created for their ratings. I think FN has been going down hill for a long time. They forgot why they got so famous in the first place and what the channel was suppose to be about, Food! Ive noticed that a lot of veteran challengers are no longer doing it and I believe its for the same reason.
Just know that your fellow cakers are by your side and no that it wasnt true. I hope that it doesnt effect your business any. If I were you though, I would look into talking to a lawyer about it if it does. They are in turn making you look like someone that your not and I believe that can be cause for a lawsuit. I ofcourse am not a lawyer and dont know what kind of contracts you had to sign, but their messing with your reputation!
By the way, loved your Nemo cake that you did for the challenge before!
