I always have an annoyed little chuckle when the local news says the El Paso is pretty much immune to the financial debacle going on now, saying "come to my house!" 
To put it in perspective, in 2007 DH sold and built 25 pools, in 2008... 7. 
He's on 3 so far for 2009, so there is hope!

Yes there is a cake club in Lubbock, TX. We meet quarterly because the decorators are scattered all over the area. I have info on the web site on this page. http://www.earlenescakes.com/CakeClubInfo.html
Next meeting is February 7th (Saturday) from 2 to 5 PM Valentine themed sugar items - bring something to share with the other sugar addicts. We meet here at the house in my classroom - come join us.
You will find photos of members cakes, email addresses so you can ask questions or directions. The schedule for 2009 is posted on the above page along with some of the other cake clubs info.

After thinking it over, I am going to postpone the meeting till it's a little better for more people. We'll try again n March! In the mean time come up with ideas and practice so you can show the rest of us!

Hola Dolores!! Welcome to West Texas Cake Chicas! Sorry, couldn't think of a better name.
Hello everyone, I have sent a message to everyone I hope who is on this thred. Again, my name is Linea, I am a former Wilton Instructor and love learning new things. I have been looking to start a cake club in this area for quite some time, and now feel it's time to get more serious about it. I have done some research and have contacted other cake clubs as well about getting more information about running meetings and what to do etc. Needless to say I am super excited and can't wait to start. Plans are to hold monthly meetings (this makes it to where if someone from farther out cant attend the meeting they don't have to wait months for another one, and this way they are kept "in the loop") After 3 months or whenever majority decides officers will need to be elected etc. I believe this would be a good time for demonstrations and just general sharing. Once this kicks off then the club can look into holding an annual day of sharing (if anyone has ever been to one of these, then you know just how much fun they can be) Also, to look for in the future to holding and annual cake show etc. The cake club would be useful for sharing technique, as well as local classes etc. We can even have people from other areas come in to teach techniques as well. These are just a few ideas.
If anyone is interested please just send me your name and address (so that I can mail out a post card of the date and time of our first meeting) Also if you will send days and times that you know will work best for you (example, first monday of every month from 6-9) or whatever. I am looking and speaking with someone in Odessa that may allow us to meet at their location cost free, as long as we leave it cleaned. etc. Also, if you know of anyone else who may be interested please send them my information or have them e-mail me [email protected]
I am looking to decide on a date and time sometime within the next two weeks, and will post that information as well.

It will be on Sat June 6th from 2-4pm in Midland Tx
Come and be apart of it from the start. Open for the beginner to the professional cake decorator/sugar artist. There will be a demonstration, some refreshments and a raffle to win a new wilton tool caddy. (Tickets at $1 ea.) Come for a chance to win door prizes and meet other people who love the art of sugar craft. There will also be a place for your kids with an adult supervising who is certified in first aid and cpr, if a babysitter cant be found. Again, please e-mail me if you plan on attending along with the number of friends and kids you will bring. If there is any questions just ask. Look forward to you there!
