Hello everyone!!! I was wondering if I could get a few different suggestions and or techniques shared so that I can achieve the look of the top tier (white layered on pink) in the attached link. I just love this look and of course I love this cake!!!! Is the cake completely covered in pink first, then the white pre-cut to shape and then laid on? Is the white cut free hand or is there a cutter?? Any recommendations or suggestion would be appreciated it!!!! Thanks in advance for any advice as I would love to learn how to achieve this look!!!

It can be done several ways.

For me, the eaisiest way is to cover the cake in pink and then cut a circle a few inches larger than the top (depending on the distance I need it to go down the side), and then go around the edge of that circle with a pizza wheel to make it wavy. You can just drape it over the top and adjust it.

I did pretty much the same thing with a birthday cake about a week ago. All I did was take a cake board the same size as my cake lay it on the rolled out icing and just did a wavy cut out with a knife a couple of inches bigger. I then rolled it round the rolling pin and placed it on the cake I had a few that were a bit long so just touched up with a knife when it was on cutting some shorter. Had to do mine in a rush but it looked quite nice I think considering I had about 5 hrs to do it.
