This is a bit of an odd request for help...I will explain.
I'm getting married Aug 2, and have been suspicious that my mother and soon to be MIL are planning on throwing me a bridal shower. My soon to be MIL called me several weeks ago saying a co-worker of hers needs a bridal shower cake for July 5 - This peaked my suspicions and curiosity even more, of course. Then, tonight inadvertently a friend of mine slipped about the date of the bridal shower - July 5 (surprise, surprise!)
So, seeing as my mother is constantly trying to get a one-up on me when it comes to surprises and wants to try and beat me(no one has surprised me yet! I was one of those kids growing up who mastered the art of re-wrapping x-mas gifts without anyone knowing!) I want to "surprise" her and my MIL when the cake they get is outrageous!
I need an idea that is fun, bold and will definately be a conversation piece.

Any help, ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Are you saying you're planning (or being asked) to make your own bridal shower cake??? No idea...but, um...you should have a good idea what theme to use...since you, uh, have an inside track with the bride. icon_wink.gif

Take the chance to make something *you* have maybe been wanting to try but haven't had a customer ask for? That's what I'd do.

Have the cake in a shape of a sock and write.. incase you get cold feet

A sexy lingerie cake: "If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?"

A Godzilla with a wedding dress on for bridezilla.

Fancy the cakes up to look like a shower cake with flowers, bows etc.

I like the idea of sexy lingerie with the saying or...

if you want to play a nice prank... Turn your cake pans upside down and ice them. You could hot glue two cheap wilton ones together if you wanted to do a stacked cake. Ice and decorate them. You might need to weight them down some on the inside. Of course hide some real cake somewhere but make sure your Mom and MIL are the ones to try and cut the cake.

I have to admit I love the idea about Godzilla in a wedding dress (even though hopefully you weren't a bridezilla icon_razz.gif ). You could even put a little man in a tux in the hand of Godzilla. I think it would be pretty hilarious. Good luck!

I LOVE that idea about putting the icing on pans... maybe just hide the cake inside, so it will still have the right weight?
Another idea is to make the worst cake ever & then act proud of it. Man, you have to be SURE that it's for you! Let all the crumbs show, dent it on the side, or just be really sloppy...
Wow, I would to hear & see what you come up with! That is GREAT! My husband tricked me by having a "new customer" order a 30th b-day cake... it ended-up being for me! (a woman I didn't know really called & placed an order, had me deliver it & paid for it!)... I detected the surprise party, but not the cake! That was great. I like your scenario even better though!
(and congratulations on your engagement!!)
