I'm relatively new to CC and the cake decorating world, but have been baking since I was little. I'm an accountant, but would love to go back to pastry school. How many people on the site have actually gone through some sort of culinary program? Are there any scholarships out there for those of us who already have a 4 year degree?

I went to a community college for Pastry Arts. I had the chance to go to Kendal College in Chicago, but even with my scholarship, I still couldnt afford it! When I was going to school, there were many men and women who were taking evening classes after their daily jobs. If you're planning on doing it just for fun on the side, I would suggest doing this too. Many community colleges offer a certificate or associates degree in Pastry Arts. If you're serious about making a career out of it, there are a number of wonderful Culinary schools across the country. I know many people who have gone to CHIC, CIA, Johnson & Whales, and Kendal College. I see you're in WI, I'm not sure what schools are near you. I'm near Chicago and there are several different Culinary schools in the city.

As for Scholarships, I received a scholarship while I was still in high school. But if you find a school that you would be interested in attending, call their offices and ask if there are any scholarships that the school offers. Or you can call and ask for the head of their Pastry program and sometimes there are opportunities that they may be able to suggest to you. I hope that helps!

I did go to culinary school and have a degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. I loved the program! The PP is correct - ask the financial aid office at the school you're thinking about attending about scholarships and other financial aid.
