I currently have a free website with freewebs.com but they recently changed their packages. I signed up for unlimited webspace to add as many pictures as I can and now it won't let me b/c of their package change. They don't even offer the individual packages anymore. I was considering upgrading to full service and a domain but their prices increased which isn't in my initial budget. icon_cry.gif

For those of you who have a website, can you tell me who you went with and why? Even those who have free websites, please share your likes and dislikes. I heard that godaddy.com was good but I need opinions.

Anyone?

I use netfirms.ca They are awesome. Lots of space, not very $$, and they have a great program that lets you track who comes and goes from your site (and how they get there)

Do they also work with businesses outside of Canada?

My nephew, who is a computer guru-type, recommends doteasy.com. It starts at $25 per year for your domain name, space, etc. I have not had a chance to look at it, but he has used it for his computer business for the last 2 years or so.

Good luck!

I also use 1and1.com
I pay $9.99 month (paid Quarterly), they provided me all the software and everything. I recently transferred my domain name.

I have spent a lot of time creating this site but it wasn't too hard to learn.

I did call their free help line alot in the beginning.

I'm totally in love with my website company--www.homestead.com. They host your website, give you e-mail, and give you a FANTASTIC do-it-yourself website program called SiteBuilder. I just created a template (they also have tons of pre-made templates...and they don't look cheap like some other companies), dropped in some pictures (Kind of like using Microsoft programs), and publish! They have different packages...I have a middle package (unlimited pages, hosting, & e-mail for $20 a month). I change my pictures and add new pages all the time...It's so easy! I love it! I've even had web designers compliment me on how professional it looks...no one can believe it's from a do-it-yourself program (they all think I spend thousands on a a professional web guy!).

AgentCakeBaker, I was just thinking the other day I needed to upgrade my freewebs account b/c I'm out of free space. This is sad to know they changed their packages! THanks for the heads up.

Your site does look like a professional designed it. Wow...I'm going to look into www.homestead.com too. I saved your website in my favorites folder. Great job...it looks really good.

I use homestead.com. I love them. The sites are reasonable, you can download a very simple easy to use design program which you can try for 30 days for free. You can choose from hundreds of page designs and backgrounds. And I can go into my program everyday and add pics, change pics, etc. And you can add memory etc. as you need it, you don't have to bump up to the next package. Take a look at my site.

Your website is great too. Ok, I think I'm leaning more towards homestead.com.

Thanks for the compliment AgentCakeBaker! Little hint: If you don't like the templates that come with the program, just create a new page (add your logo, put some boxes for the side and top bars and add borders, etc) but leave the middle blank...and save the page as "template". Then every time you create a new page just do a "Save As" with the new page name, so you get a new page with the same features and you still have the blank template for more pages. Viola instant template! PM me if you need any help.

Hi,

I use Yahoo small business. I pay $12 a month and I have unlimited pages, 200 email accounts (like I can keep up with just the one!), 5gb space for storing files, and they use sitebuilder (free) or you can use frontpage if you have a legal copy.

I have had them for over a year and I really like them. You can check the mail and site statistics( hits, and hits on specific pages) from anywhere.

Thanks

Julia

I use a free website, zoomshare
It works well, but I use it mostly for holding on-line photos. Lots of busy advertisements though, and the word zoomshare must be in your website address.

Not sure if you already have a website but you can get one at www.GoDaddy.com They have pretty good deals on domain names and the webhosting is only 4.99 a month. a lot cheaper than other places I've seen.

I would go with a company called websiteforge and this is why. They have unlimited pages unlimited uploads and live tech support people who you can reach in live time during bussiness hours. They have all kinds of free stuff like e-mail and blogs that are free with your site. You have complete control over everything you do on your website.
