I have been looking into starting a small homebased business in Michigan but have not been able to get any farther than finding out whether or not my proposed business name is available. I have looked at the Dept. of Ag and all over the Mi.gov website. Is there any one out there that owns a MI home based baking business that would be willing to offer some tips to a newbie?

I am specifically curious as to whether I am allowed to use my own kitchen, do I neeed inspections? Also, are nutritioun facts a must?

THANK you in advance!

Well I hate to be the one to burst your bubble, especially around the holidays, but as far as I am aware, it is illegal in the state of Michigan to sell baked goods out of your home. I know there are people out there who do it, because I bought my wedding cake from a lady who does this right out of her home as her sole income. Sorry for the let down, I know exactly how you feel!! icon_sad.gif

I appreciate your help greatly, but I am not following your instructions. The link you offered did not allow me to follow the "path" you explained. Thanks again!
