I have been making chocolate covered oreos in the molds that I purchased from spinningleaf. I would like to put a gold on the chocolate, but do not like the finished look when I use the luster dust. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but it just doesn't cover well and give me the look I want. I was thinking about putting fondant in the mold first then adding the chocolate and oreo so I could put the gold luster dust on the fondant. I'm new at this and was just wondering if anyone had tried this and/or do you think it would work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would add the fondant accent piece after molding the Oreos. The chocolate might seep underneath if you put it in the mold first. A bit of cornsyrup should stick the fondant piece to the Oreo. I know I've seen examples of Lusterdust used on the Oreos, but can't give you any help beyond that! Good luck, and don't be afraid to experiment.
