Is there something that you have to make every year because people love them..and expect them? icon_biggrin.gif

I make these cream cheese cut out cookies. People seem to love them..they have a hint of almond flavor to them. They rave about how they're decorated too..which I don't see what the big deal is. I'm never really satisfied with how they look after I decorate them. But I guess we're our own worse critic.

I make a Walnut Cinnamon Crisp cookie that also seems to disappear like magic from the cookie trays They are a little bit of extra work to do. but the reaction when people eat them is worth it! icon_lol.gif

We call them "Home Show Cookies" because the first year I made them for our local Lions Club Homeshow, they were the biggest hit and were requested every year as part of their fundraiser. They are a sandwich cookie (recipe can be found in most Betty Crocker cookbooks) made with flour and whipping cream. A pastel filling (p. sugar and butter with food coloring) is between the cookie rounds. They are very fragile, very rich, and very popular around my house. They are the most labor intensive cookie I make so I pretty much can get anything I want with a promise of "I'll make Home Show Cookies for ya!!" thumbs_up.gif

Great minds think alike....I just posted a question similar to this in the lounge! Mine are ginger cookies. They are my grandpa's favorite, and I make them for him every year. Actually, I just finished a batch!! icon_biggrin.gif

I would not call them signature cookies, but my family demands nut tassies and peanut butter cookies. Both recipes came from websites - the tassies from Kraft, the PB cookies from Jif.

I always make gingerbread and sugar cookies and decorate them.. I also make these lemon pecan dainties that everyone just loves.. They are pretty easy to make.. its a lemon flavoured cookie with chopped toasted pecans and then a lemon glaze when they come out of the oven.. Always make my fruit cake too.. if I don't my friends and family would be upset..

Every year since I was a little kid (about 3 or 4 is my earliest memory) my mommy and I have made rolled sugar cookie cutouts, and we would ice them with knives, spoons, toothpicks, etc. Neither of us had any experience with a pastry bag until this year.

One year, we didn't make that many sugar cookies because we were overwhelmed, so some people didn't get them, and they were so mad at us!

In the past few weeks, I've done some cookies (they're in my photo album) and I think they look so much better than everything else I did...however, I must say, on my old cookies, you never would have guessed it wasn't done with a pastry bag! Lot's of practice and patience made good cookies.

So, in short, my cutout cookies are my 'signature' cookies...hehe.

Ok the cookies or bars that make people crazy for me. Choc nobakes. My bro couldn't wait to get them when we were younger. And ate them out of the pan icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif not to fuuny this year cause his jaw is wired shut icon_cry.gif And I make these peanutbutter bars that my friends totally love. But the thing that really gets my family mad if I don't bring to get togethers are my meatballs... I know they aren't cookies or cookie related. But I had 12 people mad that I didn't send some to Thanksgiving that we couldn't attend. I sent cakes but not my meatballs icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif They are my signature dish so to speak thumbs_up.gif

There are so many great cookie recipes in my family it´s hard to determine which one is my signature. If I go by my DH favorite at christmas time it would have to be my mint girl scout cookies. Very simple and makes a ton. My DD favorites are coconut balls and christmas slices which are a buttery oatmeal cookie. I ussually try to do serveral different kinds as we alway give them out to our neighbors and friends.

Peanut and choc chip cookies are my family's favourite. It's an old recipe of my Mum's, I used to love them as a kid and still do.
When my kids all left home they all took a copy of the recipe with them.

The other things I have to make when we all get together is date and walnut loaf, fruit cake and a strawberry trifle. icon_biggrin.gif

I love this thread!
Have you noticed that most of these favorites are simple drop cookies and cut outs, whose recipes probably go back generations?
I already replied about mine, but my sister has to bake Spritz cookies. She says she uses the normal recipe from Betty Crocker, but NOONE makes them as good as SHE does!

A friend gave me some spritz...I think. Cookie press cookies? They tasted like cardboard so I guess a bad recipe. Don't know what a good one tastes like. icon_cry.gif Buttery? shortbready?

Spritz are a butter cookie, if they tasted like cardboard I would guess someone used margarine.
