Using A Stencil? Or Another Idea?

I want to make a "rescue heroes" cake for my son's bday next week. My idea is to make a double layer round cake and try to put the rescue heroes logo (basically a red "R" in a double circle) on it. I thought this could be easy if I blow up the logo and try to make a stencil out of it. But I want it to be an iced cake. So, how can I do this? What do I use for the stencil and how do I overlay it onto an iced cake? I thought I might be able to use red 'christmas' sugars to shake into the stencil.

Does this idea have a chance? Any other suggestions?

Annie

You could do a FBCT.

The stencil idea would work, I think Wilton even has a red color in there cake dust.

FBCT is a Frozen buttercream transfer.

You do the design on a sheet of parchment and freeze then "flip" in onto your cake. AWESOME!!!

You can find instructions in the article section I believe on this site.

Just wanted to (finally) post a thank you. I tried the FBCT suggestion for the first time on my son's rescue hero cake. I was happy with it and so were the four year olds - but not a critical group when it comes to cake. Here's how it came out. (I hope I can post the photo - never done that either!) **OOPS _ can't seem to get the photo uploaded. I'll try again sometime. but thanks!

To post the attachment, after you've browsed and selected your file, you have to click on "add attachment" for it to stick. It's just up and to the right of the submit button.
