Amazon has a black KA 5 qt. bowl lift stand mixer on the Friday Sale today for $199.99. It doesn't say it's reconditioned. I've had that model for 15 years and love it. It's a great price.

Thanks! I've been looking at the Kitchen Aid stand mixers. What is the difference in this and the artisan? Ive never used a stand mixer, but everyone seems to rave about the Artisan one. Do they do different things or something? Or are you just paying extra for the name?

With the Artisan you can lift the main head piece up and get the bowl out that way, with this one you unhook it (if that explanation makes any sense.) I love my Artisan but I am sure this one would be just as good, if you don't mind the fact that the head does not swing up.

Hope I linked it right.

I *think* the 5 qt. is slightly larger? Meaning it holds a few cups more of flour.
