I am new to cookies. I have used a cookie glaze that I love the taste of but the colors don't always stay consistent. If I use it as a base color and leave it white it's fine but then if I use a color on top of that for details the color bleeds, badly. I also colored it and used it as the base coat on 2 cookies and by the time it dried the color was uneven and spotty. Why is this?

Also, if I use the glaze as the base maybe I could use royal for the details? I am not crazy about royal icing and people rave about my cookies and say how good they are and I believe that is at least in part because of the glaze. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you.

I am thinking that it might have something to do with the ingredients in your glaze that the color is not mixing well with. However, it is hard to say since I don't know your recipe. I wish I could be more help...sorry.

Sorry about that. The glaze is just powdered sugar, water, pinch of salt and vanilla. I am looking at some cookies I did yesterday adn the outline is actually fading and bleeding. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
