I just posted the picture of my first wedding cake. I worked on that cake for 2 days straight, with 2 little ones running around, and made nothing on it. I told my sister-in-law that I would do her cake and that my mother-in-law could just pay me the cost. I thought for sure she would throw in a little extra, but she didn't. I think it came out pretty good considering that it was my first ever wedding/stacked construction/free cake. Thank you to everyone who gave me tips on the construction part of it. Oh, and by the way, my sister-in-law said that the cake needed to feed 150 people, but there were only about 40 people there. There was only one row cut off of each tier. The bottom tier was white and the middle was Strawberry. Most of that cake will probably be trashed. Oh well, at least I got to practice on a free cake before I actually charge someone for a cake this next Saturday.
I think your cake is beautiful! Great job on the garlands, and the stargazers really set it off!
You did a great job! You should be proud. I just finished my first wedding cake a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't nearly as perfect.
Thank you all for your nice comments!
jgclucas - your wedding cake is very pretty. I think it looks better than mine.
I have another cake to do this Saturday, hopefully that one will come out better. Not that Im not very happy with this one, but it had some flaws
