I am in the process of rewriting my wedding cake contract. I have gotten great tips from all the posts on this subject and I'm going to kind of combine a little from here and there. I was wondering though, when you have the bride sign the contract do you give them like a carbon copy? and what about the order form that you write all the details of the cake? Do you have the actual terms and aggreements on the same page as the order form? Sorry for all the questions but I thought I had time to do this and I just got a phone call for a consultation on Sat with a wedding Oct.6th!

Thanks in advance!

I usually write out the details for baking on a separate sheet to post in the kitchen. Oh, and I provide a copy of the contract to the bride so she can review it, and it serves as a reminder of upcoming payment due dates.

I enter all the details into the computer and print out two copies - each to be signed by both parties, and each of us retaining a copy.

I also photocopy the design and both of us sign and retain a copy of that as well.

Better safe than sorry (had a gal come into where I used to work the day before her wedding - when the cake was already iced - saying that wasn't the design she chose - so I had to scrape and re-ice it. I vowed to never let anything like that happen to me in my own business.)
