Your gelatinas are so beautiful! I bought some things from GelArt when I was at the Oklahoma cake show, so I could try doing some. I haven't tried it yet, but I think it would be a lot of fun. Since I have two friends whose children do not like cake, it would give me something different to make for them.

I thought the lilies were cool and am wondering how you made them... Care to share how it was done? icon_rolleyes.gificon_biggrin.gif

hi toomuchcake
thank u for your comments....whatever u got from gelart i know u will have alot of fun
my lilys were messed up i need more practice... i used a syringe with a needle to out and form the lilys than injected a milk/gelatin mixture inside the clear dome to make the lilys
some people buy and use a special tool to do the lilys with gelatin u can use tools or use knife, forks ,spoons, eardropper, a childs medince syringe, or a syringe with needle etc
if i can be of help just ask thank u again

Thanks, Flowergel! I'm going to save this thread so when I give it a try, I'll know where to find you so I can PM you to help me out.

The things I got from GelArt are the rose bombe cd instructions, a bunch of the gelatin she likes to use, a regular spoon, a serrated grapefruit spoon for the leaves, and a couple eyedroppers. I watched the cd and it doesn't look too hard, but we shall see. Maybe this weekend I can try it out, since I don't have any cakes due this week.

Flowergel, I tried making gelatinas today! It helped me have the courage to try it knowing if I had questions you'd help me.

Well, I have questions! icon_rolleyes.gif I made two rose gelatinas, one pink and one yellow. They turned out okay, but no one is going to see them but my family, haha! I spaced the petals out too far so it looks gangly. Is there a trick to making the petals closer together? Sometimes I cut into the previously made petal and the gelatin ran between the two. Do I just need more practice or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Also, the clear part of the gelatin turned out opaque so that the yellow rose doesn't even show up in it. This happened on both of them, but the pink rose showed up okay, but not great. Did I overcook the sugarwater or did I do something else I shouldn't have?

Thank you for helping me. I know I'll like doing these when I get better at them. I'm willing to do more practice.

Thanks, Flowergel! Here are the pictures of my very first gelatina flowers. The pink one turned out okay. Not perfect, but it's my first one, so I'm pleased for a first effort. We already started eating the yellow rose one, but I took a picture of it anyway so you can see what I mean about it being opaque.

Do you use an instant gelatin, or do you cook yours? Do you use the Sprite in place of all the water?

I got my instruction cd from Lourdes Reyes at www.gelartfloral.com. She was at the Oklahoma cake show and I got it there. She had a lot of different flower instructions, but I just got the rose one. It looked easiest and it was the least expensive cd, and I was running out of cash, haha.

Let me know if you have any pointers for me, I'd love to get better at this!
THANK YOU!!
