Fellow Cake Decorators,
I have been looking for a small space for my cake decorating business in a suburb of California (North of Los Angeles) for about 6 months now. I have been looking at storefronts, industrial space, and separate small freestanding bldgs.
I have been gathering ideas for the look I want of the bakery, trying to get ideas by surfing the web and such. Even though I would be only open generally by appointment only, I still want a great looking space. I haven't decided on a design scheme yet, but I will know the right look when I see it. I am leaning toward black & white checkered flooring with a clean look but I am open to anything right now.
If anyone out there in cake land has any ideas or has seen any memorable kitchens/storefronts I would love some ideas.
Thanks, I appreciate the assistance.

My only suggestion would be to make it look like a place that inspires you, or energizes or calms you, whichever atmosphere you need to get your decorating done. This will help you, as you'll be spending A LOT of time there, and give customers a feel for your personal touch when they walk in the door!
