I attended both a birthday party and a wedding that I made cakes for. Each time the cake was cut, the slices didnt come out perfect-they knda crumbled a bit. The cake tasted wonderful, but is this suppossed to happen? Is this because the cake is so moist? It just makes the cake terribly hard to serve.

I too had the same issue, however when I made a cake for a friend and she had her event held a hotel the hotel staff cut the cake. They had a pitcher of hot water and seranated knives, each time they cut into the cake they would stick the knives in the hot water wipe it off with a towel and cut into the cake. The cake was cut so perfectly. I have since adopted this technique and it really does work. thumbs_up.gif

Maeliza, thank you, what a good idea. I'll recommend it to my cake-consumers. (All my cakes are gifts.)
