I frosted a cake last night and this morning I noticed the frosting cracked.
I used leftover frosting from this weekend which worked fine. It looked wet this morning. Any suggestions!! Thanks

That usually happens to me if my boards are not strong enough. I could be wrong, but that is what I think is happening to mine sometimes. So I always try to put an extra board if I know that the cake is going to weigh a little more than usual.

Yeah I have learned that if my cake is too heavy with not enough support underneath I will get a nice crack that is hard to repair! So double up on support for heavy cakes!!!!! icon_smile.gif

I have one recipe for b/c frosting that includes one drop of white vinegar to prevent cracking.

Obviously this doesn't mean the stress cracks caused by pressure....

Just a thought.

My cake was a two layer 8 inch. I could be wrong but I didn't think it was the weight. I thought maybe my frosting wasn't completely at room temperature.
