I have a wedding cake and grooms cake that needs to travel 3 hours. the cakes are being picked up on Friday morning for a Sat. wedding. I was just wondering how others would go about assembling the cake for travel that far and not have too much for the customers to worry about on the other end.
The grooms cake is a 12" 2 layer square. The wedding cake is a 3 tier. She hasn't decided on the way she wants the cake to look. I have suggested the tapered columns. Does anyone else have any ideas. They really don't have any more money for flowers to put between the layers, so that is out. The only flowers being used are roses, so expensive anyway.
thanks for your help.

I absolutely would not do tapered columns. I'd do a simple stacked cake, and if it's three tiers, you can go on and assemble it.

Of course, I'd use SPS, because it was made for just this particular situation--customers picking up wedding cakes themselves.
