Hi, all ~

I have made the no-fail sugar cookie recipe from this site many times and each time, the cookies spread somewhat in the oven and they don't have a nice, clean edge. I keep the rolled shapes in the frig until baking them (while another pan is in the oven). Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Julie

They will spread a litlle bit with the evolution of the ingredients.

Hmmmmm.... Mine have nice edges... Perhaps the ingredients you're using?? Do you follow the recipe exactly or subsititute anything?

I think that recipe is a little quirky myself......I mean don't get me wrong, I love them and I ALWAYS use the recipe.....but sometimes they spread and sometimes they don't. I always use the same ingredients......however if you are substituting here is a link that will tell you how to make things go easier.

I've only tried NFSC once, and I followed the recipe precicely. But mine spread quite a bit, too. I ended up using the same cookie cutter to trim the cookies right after they came out of the oven, and that worked quite well. So well, in fact, that I'm considering just baking a large sheet of cookie dough and cutting exclusively *after* they're baked. Yeah, I'd have more scraps, but my husband and daughter won't mind. icon_wink.gif
