This is my 2nd time with this and I LOOOOOVE this idea. The fondant is sooo easy and now that I know to roll THIN fondant, it was even easier this time. I actually cut the fondant shapes out first and then the cookies. It was soo easy and the cookies are already done. Still have to do some royal icing accents later this week. They are just for family so they don't have to be perfect like the ones I have seen here.

I love being able to have the fondant ready vs having to do everything the day of. this is make school treat easy.

Thanks for all your help. I still have to "prefect" things but I am getting there. Once I find my camera in all this mess, I will post them. They are not the best, but not bad I think.

I still have not tried this but LOVE the idea. I have the book from The Flour Pot and they use fondant.

I have a few questions for you:

How have you learned to roll your fondant thinner?

Did you place them on hot cookies or use something to make it stick?

What kind of fondant did you use?

Thanks for sharing with all of us!

I use a mat I bought on clearance at Hobby Lobby--use a rolling pin with powdered sugar(you can use cornstarch). Pick it up and turn lots. I use small pieces at a time from the "log" I make of fondant--maybe 4inches by 2 inches.

This time I placed them on the hot cookies--fresh from the oven. Last time I was rolling them out as they were coming out--took too much time to place on and the cookies cooled off. That time I used corn syrup. You can shape the fondant to the cookies when they are hot.

I used the marmallow fondant. I doubled the small recipe. The original recipe is:

1 cup marchmallows
1 Tblspoon water
1 1/2- 1 3/4 cup powdered sugar

Another thing---I usually did not sift the sugar and yesterday I did for bc and OMG-there really is a HUGE difference. Someone mentioned that the other day so I thought I would give it a try. (I can be lazy!!).

Have fun! It is like playig with playdoh all over again! icon_biggrin.gif

I too love working with fondant. I use Toba's recipe and have had great success with it. They have some amazing "tools" you can use now too-imprint mats, rollers, push molds, etc... really makes it fun! Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Thank you for the tips!

I am going to try sifting my sugar tomorrow when I do MMF. I too can be lazy and never sift!

cakeatopia, reading your post made me want to try this too. I just made a 1/2 batch of no fails and the small recipe of MMF...I have about 1/2 sheet of cookies that didn't get covered. I rolled the fondant really thin, cut all the shapes out before I cut the cookies, and placed the MMF on the cookies right out of the oven.

You can pat down the MMF with your finger as it softens on the cookie in case you placed it wrong.

I wanted to try this technique out before I actually took them somewhere.

BTW, the NF cookies are pretty good, and I don't usually like really sugary frostings, but the MMF works really well for me! I just ate 2 cookies! LOL
