Well, I took my first real practice cake to work today. It's the 3 tiered fondant covered cake in my pics. I had to laugh though at some of the comments such as "you mean we can really eat it?". or "I don't know much about this fondue stuff"(really??). When I mentioned that they may not want to eat the fondant (which was very hard by this time), one person told me that "It doesn't matter, if it has sugar in it, I'll eat it!" OK.....so much for taste tests! icon_rolleyes.gif
I think they liked it. No one else has ventured into cake decorating much. Several people mentioned that their idea of a decorated cake is breaking out a can of frosting and using sprinkles for those really special occasions. (Ya, I've been there too).
Do you get amusing comments when you share your practice cakes?

Lots of oohs and aaahs (but most of my practice goes on my family); I'm beginning to wonder how much kudos is real and how much is protocal to devour the cake icon_lol.gif Your cake is great; it looks down right perfect. Have you tried the mmf yet? I tried the Rhonda's Ultimate MMF and am stuck. Everyone loves it and even GASP Eats it! icon_eek.gif It's delicious...

I've made several batches of MMF and have had pretty good luck with it. I really liked Rhonda's choc. MMF. I bought SatinIce recently and wanted to try it out so I made this practice cake. I really liked working with it but found it got harder, faster that the MMF.
I decided to go ahead and take this cake to work because it was too much cake for us to eat at home. My family doesn't eat much cake...imagine that!!! I wanted to see if others thought it tasted good. Well, so much for that! Just kidding. They thought it was good. One person was still trying to decide if I needed to "tweak" the recipe a little. Oh well!

That's so funny about the "fondue" icon_lol.gif

Your cake is beautiful. I'd be tickled if one of my coworkers brought some test food for me to sample! icon_biggrin.gif

Does it ever make you wonder what these people would serve at a fondue party?
