Up until 2/06, I lived in NJ for 20+ years. I had applied for a NJ tax ID because I was looking to go "legal". Well, it never happened. I ended up moving unexpectedly to a far away land. Well, I finally go some info from the NJ Dept of Treasury....six months later to the tune of a tax deliquency request! They want me to pay $120 to "close" my business! I never did a legal stinkin' transaction there! SO now I'm broke, I dont have the $120 to file the paperwork, does anyone know what can be done here? It was free to register the business, but I have to pay to close it?

I'm no tax expert, but my DH had a "business" about 10 years ago, never really did any business, but he did have to pay in order to close it.

KHalstead, have you been getting tax deliquency notices? That's what prompted me to ask. Even though I'm not doing biz there, I wasnt filing because I wasn't selling there and I got a bucnh of c-r-a-p in the mail from it.
