I've been experimenting with decorating the No Fail cookies and I need some help.
I sent a batch to work with my boyfriend to get opinions . . . everyone seems to agree that the MMF over the cookie and then decorated with Royal looks pretty but tastes pretty bland. Antonias method of Royal Icing has been a hit though! Would using some of the LorAnn flavorings in the MMF help the bland issue or should I stick with the crowd favorite?

I vote MMF..... don't listen to those who say it's a bad idea.
Most likely they have not done it themselves.
MMF is very easy and comes out very pretty.
That's what I always do.

PrettyCake,

Your cookies look like little art pieces you could hang on the wall. How do people eat those without feeling guilty? LOL

I love the look of MMF over just royal icing but you can't argue with people's taste buds so I'd try to add some flavoring and see if that makes a difference. I feel the same way about cookies as I do about cakes... taste matters most of all so it can look gorgeous but if it's sitting on a plate than I wouldn't feel good about my work you know?

I decided to try the Royal Icing method posted by Antonia and I am really happy with it so far! (I'll post pictures in the am.) I'm making a cake and using the cookies to decorate the bottom of the cake . . . and I broke down and went crazy at the cake supply today buying flavorings. (This batch I used Raspberry . . . but I think I bought over 12 flavors so I'm going to be having lots of fun!) My boyfriend tasted a test cookie already and loved them!

Ooh, I can't wait to see pictures! It's funny because I just read through the post showing all of the August cookies and they blew me away with how amazing they looked and most of those were royal icing! Now I'm torn between what I like better LOL too many choices!

I have been wanting to use MMF for my cookies but wasn't sure how they would taste. I usually just cover the cookie with royal icing and then use fondant for the details like flowers, pearls, etc...

So, now I wil try and use MMF with some added flavoring and see what happens.

I like to use NFs topped with rolled bc with Antonia's icing to accent the decorations. Everyone always raves about them. I person even said they were "orgasmic" lol
