Ok, I know this has been answered before....sorry to ask again...but can't find specific info on my search.
I made football cakes tonight but messed up big time on the icing color...threw it out. Put the cakes in the freezer and am taking a deep breath. **sigh** I want dark brown-preferably NOT chocolate (but that might not be possible.)
I added half a bottle of the "brown" color to the buttercream - no luck and was afraid to add more. It didnt seem to get darker after awhile...just nasty looking. So I did add chocolate syrup and powder.... it was yucky tasting and wasnt much of a football color.
What does everyone else do to make a great tasting DARK brown icing?
And I thought this was going to be a nice, easy relaxing cake to make. icon_cry.gif Thanks all

you might try mixing two complementary colors together to get your brown
you can use red + green or blue + orange or yellow + purple I would use the red green combo for the brown you are looking for
the blue orange is more for making black and the yellow purple is good for making golden brown.
Hope this helps.
