I have a cake order for a French Vanilla cake next weekend. The child has a peanut allergy. I always use doctored Pillsbury French Vanilla. It doesn't have any warnings or peanut info on the box. It just says that it might contain milk or soy. I really don't want to take any chances. Does anyone know if this product might contain peanuts? Have you used it before. I hate the way my scratch cakes come out, so I really wanted to use this mix. Please help!!!

If the product contained peanuts, it would mention it with the milk & soy.
Other things to look for are warnings that say "made in the same facility as products made with peanuts", or "made on the same equipment as products containing peanuts" - these would be listed after the ingredients.

I myself have a peanut allergy, and unless it specifically says any of the above mentioned warnings, I'd eat it.

Another thing to watch for is peanut oil and peanut flour. They show up in unusual places. I would definitely recommend that you read the ingredient list on EVERYTHING you put in the cake and the frosting (even the frosting colors) just to be safe.

My DD has a peanut allergy and I follow what stemps said when I bake for my family. I think I've even used that brand before. Just keep in mind that companies change their recipes all the time so ALWAYS read the ingredient list for everything that goes into your cake.

If you are ever in doubt you can always call the company (Pilsbury, etc). My SIL does it all the time, her kids have multiple food allergies.
