I'm not going, but I do know a few people from here are. I've heard it's just a blast! The CA Cake Club does the cruise every-other year. So maybe in 2009....

I have looked over the itinerary and rooms, guest speakers, work shops the whole nine yards and I'd die to go. But it is too much for me. It would be well over 1000.00 just for the not so nice rooms plus your air fare to where the boat is docked to leave, plus all your other expenses! Way too much for me.

Yes....I heard that the next cruise they plan to do will be on the east coast to accomodate the many people who have wanted to go for awhile, but haven't been able to. You can contact CC member Ubiz for more info on the next California Cake Cruise.

If you don't want to wait til 2009 for another cruise, a plan is in motion for a Cake Central Member cruise out of Florida next spring. Details are coming soon.

Alaska is an expensive destination especially for east coasters.
We have been running a poll on our website and as a result, our next cruise will be Dec 2008 from Ft Lauderdale (7 day pre-Xmas). Prices should start at just under $699 pp inc taxes (double occupancy). Already have commitment from some presenters. Initial plans are for three 90min Culinary Arts Center presentations and 3 classroom sessions in 2 classrooms (6 classes total - fee required for classes). Details will be released officially in a couple of months. We do have a mailing list to keep informed. We are planning 2 cruises for 2009!

In a perfect world, it would be possible to find a destination, price and time to satisfy everyone, but we are not there yet. We try to find good value, off peak cruises for our events. For those not wanting to take advantage of the cruise Becky (rlsaxe) is planning, we can is easily add a seperate CC meet and greet just for CC members.

Those prices sound great, John. Especially for a 7 day cruise. Who are the presenters you have so far? Or are you not at liberty to divulge that info yet?
Also.....that's a great idea to provide the option for CC members to have a meet and greet. Especially if the dates I go with don't work for people.

We are planning to launch 2008 on the Alaska cruise perhaps a little earlier. The presenter list is not final yet, we may have 3 or 4.
For those on the Alaska cruise, they will be able to book onto the 2008 cruise for only $100 pp deposit and the cruise line will include a stateroom credit.

This is a pre-xmas cruise which are fun because they are considerably cheaper than the Xmas cruise (directly after ours) but over the seven days of the cruise the ship becomes more Xmassy each day as they prepare. You head home with a bunch of Xmas spirit.

Cruising is a family experience. Spouses and kids are always welcome on CakeCruises. The kids are always well cared for with ClubHAL.
We do have limited space in the Culinary Arts Center but there is tons for the family to do while you are enjoying the presentations or classes.

Wow, an Alaskan cruise near the shortest day of the year!

How much daylight is there up there in mid-December? How cold is it outdoors? What sorts of indoor activities are planned for non-cakers?

Cake Cruise is sponsored by the California Cake Club. You can find more info at cakecruise.com and cakecamp.com If you search here using cake and cruise, some of my posts about it should come up.

Not try to give a shameless plug, but there are lots of details at www.CakeCruise.com or you can send me a message.

We run west coast cruises (on odd years) in co-operation with the California Cake Club and opposite year to Cake Camp (even years).
Due to a huge number of requests, we will now be planning east coast and specialty (europe & transatlantic) cruises on the opposite years to the west coast cruises but at a time that does not conflict with CakeCamp or ICES convention.

Like 5 hours? Something like that... and it won't be above freezing... more like 5-20 degrees.

Just to clarify--no cruise to Alaska is planned for mid-December. The Alaska cruise leaves Seattle on 9/2/07. The mid-December,2008 cruise is scheduled to leave from Ft. Lauderdale for the Carribbean.
